Luxury boutique hotel, Fishmore Hall in Shropshire, is giving budding chefs and food fanatics the opportunity to become a chef for the day with their 'Shop and Cook with the Chef' package. Venture off into the picturesque market town of Ludlow to explore the famed Ludlow Food Centre, independent delis and quirky artisan producers, before taking the reins in the kitchen to prepare an opulent evening meal. After guests have handed back their toques, they are invited to indulge in the sumptuous three course meal created with ingredients purchased in the morning, before retiring for a well deserved overnight stay in the luxurious bedrooms. This package is available for groups of two up to 12 from £199 per person.

Just a short 10 minute stroll into Ludlow, one of the finest historic towns in the UK, Fishmore Hall is easily accessible from the A49 and set in the breathtaking Shropshire countryside. The contemporary country house hotel welcomes those looking for a relaxed break in one of the most unspoilt counties in England. Guests that book the Shop and Cook package will be invited into the kitchen of innovative Head Chef Andrew Birch to create delicious delicacies before trying them out for themselves in the heart of the hotel, the Forelles restaurant that has recently been re-awarded the prestigious accolade of 3AA Rosettes.

Originally from Swansea, Wales, Andrew Birch has previously been awarded Welsh Chef of the Year in 2004, Young Chef Apprentice of Britain in 2005, Young Chef Apprentice of Europe in 2005, and was a finalist in the Roux Regional Scholarship in 2006.

Itinerary

10am to 12pm - Shopping with chef - a tour of the local cheese shop, Ludlow Food Centre and a few other of the local suppliers' stores.

12pm to 1pm - Explore Ludlow – try out the local beer in the Church Inn or wander around the delis and independently run shops

Return for light lunch at the hotel

2pm to 5pm - Cooking with the chef. For the brave, some plucking outdoors, butchery, bake some cheese crackers, prepare some canapés and use the other ingredients purchased through the morning to create your evening meal

Fishmore Hall

Fishmore Hall is a Regency-style hotel, owned and run by Acorn Award winner Laura Penman. Laura purchased Fishmore Hall as a derelict property and in 22 weeks transformed it into a boutique 15 bedroom hotel.
