DFDS Seaways' North Sea Sounds mini cruise will surely hit all the right notes for any music lovers looking for a short break with a difference.

Departing from North Shields, near Newcastle on 13 November, passengers will enjoy two great nights on board cruise ferry Princess Seaways, with live performances on both crossings, plus time in Amsterdam all Rock-and-Rolled into one. The next cruise in the North Sea Sounds series is a funk and soul special presented by Jumpin' Hot Club, with a range of top acts including the Brand New Heavies, the Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club, Kraak & Smaak and Smoove & Turrell.

What's more, DFDS Seaways is currently offering an amazing earlybird special price from just £85pp for bookings made before 21 September. For more information, or to book, visit www.dfds.co.uk/sounds.

Newcastle-based Smoove & Turrell play what they call Northern Funk, a style which blends funk, soul, hip-hop and pop music. When Craig Charles asked his BBC Radio 6 Music listeners to vote for their Fantasy Funk Band, John Turrell was named as the best male funk vocalist.

Since 2008, the Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club has performed live DJ sets at nightclubs, festivals and special events throughout the UK, and beyond. Charles plays a mixture of well-known, classic funk and soul tracks, as well as modern hits and remixes or covers of classic songs from new artists.

Dutch trio Kraak & Smaak were named as a “must-see live band” by dance music magazine IDJ, taking a respectable place alongside Moby, The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy. Touring internationally since 2005, the Dutch boys have honed their live show into a must-see act.

With no fewer than 16 UK top 40s to their name, the Brand New Heavies are well-known throughout the UK as acid-jazz pioneers. Still touring consistently and releasing music, expect classics such as Never Stop and Dream on Dreamer, as well as more modern tracks in its set.
